My Story

Like many Americans, I spent years following elections, debates, and the constant stream of national headlines. I cared deeply about the future of our country, but over time I found myself asking a different question.

What if the Founders expected citizens to spend less time watching Washington and more time strengthening their own communities?

That question sent me back to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and the writings of those who helped shape the American republic. The deeper I studied, the more I became convinced that America's greatest strength has never been politics alone. It has been self-government practiced by ordinary people.

Today my wife Emily and I own and operate businesses in rural Idaho while raising our five children in the same community where I grew up. Those experiences have taught me that liberty isn't an abstract political theory. It's something families, churches, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods either strengthen or weaken every day.

That conviction eventually became The Vertical Axis of Liberty.

My hope isn't simply that readers will better understand the Constitution. My hope is that they'll leave believing America's founding principles are still true, and that our brightest days are ahead if we're willing to practice them.
